Dr. Stanislava Chrobáková Repar (Slovakia/Slovenia) is a poet, writer, essayist and literary scholar of two languages, who also runs her own publishing house in Slovakia named Fraktál. For nearly two decades, she has collaborated closely with KUD Apokalipsa in Ljubljana on all of its programs, some of which she also co-founded and led (the international project “Revija v reviji,” the Fraktal series, the Gender project, and others). She is also a co-founder of the Mira Women’s Committee at the Slovene PEN Centre and its first president.
She was born in Bratislava, studied philosophy, aesthetics, and literary studies, and moved to Ljubljana in 2001. Between 2016 and 2021, she lived in Finland; she now lives and works in Slovakia again. She has published 32 books across various genres and styles, most recently the poetry collection Torzi, accompanied by her own photographs, and the anthology of poems Antigones, Iphigenias, Helens, and Other Useful Deeds in Slovak, as well as the collection of essays and discussion Initiations, or Literature Beyond the Visible and the poetry collection Rauma Blues in Slovenian. Her works have been translated into 16 languages. She has translated hundreds of magazine and anthology pieces, as well as around 30 standalone book titles (most recently, the short stories of Maja Novak and the poetry of Klarisa Jovanović, Uroš Prah, and Barbara Korun into Slovak, and the novel by Jaroslava Blažková and the poetry of Štefan Strážay into Slovenian). Currently the most active bridge-builder between Slovenian and Slovak literature and culture, she is a recipient and nominee for several awards (most recently the Mira Award in Slovenia and the Literary Fund Award in Slovakia). In 2016, she was a critic at the 13th Pranger Festival.
