Lukas Debeljak, born in 1999 in Ljubljana. He in California, Berlin, and Vienna, where he earned a master’s degree in Historical Studies from the Central European University. His poetry has been published in Slovenia (Dialogi, Idiot, Literatura etc.) and abroad (Enklava, Manuskripte, Rukopisi etc.), and translated into English, Czech, Greek, German, Serbian, and Spanish. He has published the chapbook Krožna/obodna hitrost (Circular/Circumferential Speed, Mala Ignorirana Knjižica 2017) and two poetry collections, the debut Poznati kot voda (To Know Like Water, Center for Slovenian Literature 2022), which was selected as one of the ten best Slovenian books of that year, and the long poem Drevo, ki ga pišemo nihče (A Tree Nobody is Writing, LUD Šerpa 2025), which was nominated for the Čaša nesmrtnosti — Velenjica Award in 2026. He also works as a translator of literary and academic texts.
