Urška P. Černe

Born 1971 in Maribor, Slovenia, after living Ljubljana and Berlin now working as a freelance translator, cultural mediator and journalist in her hometown. Teaches literary translation at Maribor University. Employee of the Premuda summer school for literary translation at the University of Graz Department of Translation Studies. Černe also gives lectures on translation criticism and other translation topics at international congresses and symposia. In 2017 Černe was appointed Advisor of the Austrian library of Slovenia by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs. Co-founder and director of the "Pranger" poetry and translation criticism festival. Černe holds degrees in both Comparative Literature and German studies (M. A.) as well as Law (B. A.), researching literary translation criticism, literary reality in Effi Briest by Theodor Fontane and “Zum Zeitvertreib” by Friedrich Spielhagen and the restrictions in freedom of speech in Criminal law. She is currently writing her thesis on working in pair in the literary translation in Innsbruck Austria under supervision of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Pöckl and Prof. Dr. Sebastian Donat. Awards: The 2008 Sovre National Prize for artistic achievement (A. Maier, Wäldchestag). The 2010 Award of the Slovenian Association of Literary Translators (DSKP) for her poetry translations of Durs Grünbein, 2013 Award of the DSKP for the novel translation of Kevin Vennemanns Mara Kogoj. Translations of poetry (D. Grünbein, R. D. Brinkmann, M. Kreidl, U. Wolf, H. Müller, Elke Erb, H. Jackson, Eichendorff, J. Sartorius, etc.), prose (W. Benjamin, G. Grass, P. Bichsel, A. Stadler, W. Haas, K. Vennemann, D. Kehlmann, etc.) and plays (E. Jelinek, Th. Gieselmann, Ödön von Horváth) into Slovenian and into German (in Tandems, Anja Golob, Boris Pahor, N. Kramberger, A. Natalija Milovanović

Natalija Milovanović (1995) is the new main producer of the Pranger Festival. She is a translator and a poet writing in Serbian and Slovenian. Her poetry collection Samoumevno [Taken for Granted] (Center za slovensko književnost, Aleph 200, 2021) got the Best First Book Award at the 37th Slovenian Book Fair. She has co-organized poetry readings series and the festival Mlade rime for a couple of years, 2016 to 2019, and has moderated literary events in Slovenia, Austria and Italy. As a translator from Serbian into Slovene, she participates in the project CELA (Connecting Emerging Literary Artists) that is connecting eleven European countries. dr. Nada Grošelj

Nada Marija Grošelj received a joint BA degree in English and Latin in 2000 from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and obtained in 2005 a PhD in linguistics. Since 2005 she has been registered as a freelance translator while teaching at the Faculty on contract. As a translator and language consultant for English, she works with academic institutions. She publishes academic and professional papers, chiefly on translation issues, and participates in conferences at home and abroad. She translates from English, Latin and Swedish (occasionally also from German and Ancient Greek) into Slovenian, and from Slovenian into English. Her book-format translations (over 50 as sole translator so far, with several more about to be published) include the fields of literary theory, philosophy, theology, mythology, and literature proper. Her translations have received excellent reviews and been presented at various literary events and on the national radio. She is active in professional associations and co-organises scholarly and literary events. Urška Bračko

Urška Bračko (1991) is a graduate in comparative literature who is currently pursuing her postgraduate studies in publishing with a master's thesis on New Forms of Book Clubs and Subscriptions to Book Boxes. During her studies, she started publishing book content under the name Booknjiga and launched her blog website in 2018. She was one of the first book bloggers in Slovenia to set up a book blog system; she writes about books, bookshops and literary travels, and organises interviews with authors. She collaborates with Slovenian publishing houses, moderates discussions and reports on literary and other events, and organises meetings for book bloggers. She writes for LUD Literatura, AirBeletrina and Bukla. She has worked for UMco, KUD Sodobnost International and Učila International, where she was part of the projects Zmenek s knjigo (Date with a Book) and Knjiga meseca (Book of the Month). In 2018 and 2019 she was part of the Slovenian Book Fair PR team. As a jury member, she participated in the literary competition Espresso Stories (Beletrina), Best Poem (Beletrina), NMN Literary Challenge, and this year also in the Red Thread competition. At the convention NMN, she organises round tables on New Slovenian Fantasy Literature. Since 2022, he has been editing content for the online theatre portal SiGledal. When inspired, she writes poetry, short stories and plays. As an author, her short story was published in the anthology Spreganje glagola prihajati, and her play Stanovanjce, stanovanjce, kje si? was read on stage at the Pionirski teater. Dominik Lenarčič

Dominik Lenarčič (1999) comes from the outskirts of Kranj. He is a poet, prose writer and literary critic. In secondary school, he was an editor of the English language magazine The Sky is the Limit BC Naklo. He studied library science at the undergraduate and graduate level at the Ljubljana Faculty of Arts, where he also edited the student magazines at the department of library science (Štubidu) and the department of English (EngLIST). He now works as the assistant editor at Supernova, the only Slovene literary journal specialized for speculative fiction. Aside from Supernova, he is published in the journals Mentor, Nebulae, Sejalec, Liter jezika and on the web portals Pesem.si, LUD Literatura and Koridor, as well as in many anthologies. As a literary critic, he works for the platform Koridor – Križišče umetnosti, but he was also published in the Mlado pero column of the Delo newspaper. In 2022 he received the Mentor Feferon Award for the best protest poem and in 2023, as part of the literary competition Ob skodelici kave (Društvo Imstori), he received the prize for the best poem in the adult category. He manages a book club in the Kranj City Library for youths between 18 and 30 years, which allows him contact with younger readers. Nataša Koražija

After I graduated at Gymnasium I in 1997 in Celje, I attended the Faculty of Education in Maribor to study Slovene Language and Literatures. I graduated in 2002 and obtained the title Professor of Slovene Language. In the same year, I attended a post-graduate study at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor and in 2009 I obtained the title Master of Science from the field of Slovene Linguistics. In 2006, I started to work as a librarian at the Public Library of Rogaška Slatina. My field of work was initially user oriented, in addition to the organization and execution of events and work in the field of promotion. With time, I became responsible for the acquisition and processing of all the literature within the library. Since 2010, I am the head of the institution in question. During this time, I participated in several local projects and represented the Association of Public Libraries at the Cultural Bazaar for three years. Within the mobility project Leonardo da Vinci in 2012, I participated in one-week educational course in Lithuania, where I got to know the Lithuanian library system. Maja Kovač

My name is Maja Kovač. I was born on 20th of February 1985 in Celje. After the completion of secondary education at the Gymnasium Centre Celje, I attended the Faculty of Arts to study Slovene Sciences. In autumn 2010, I finished the study of Slovene Sciences at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana (Slovene Language and Literatures) and obtained the title Professor of Slovene Language. At the Public Library of Rogaška Slatina, I started working as a librarian and was promoted to the grade independent librarian. At the library, I am responsible for different tasks. In addition to lending books, I manage the acquisition and processing of periodic and also monographic publications. My main purpose at the library is to plan and organize events for adults and children and library-oriented pedagogical work. An additional form of work with kindergartens are English lessons. A special form of activities to encourage the reading culture are activities for users with special needs. I am also the coordinator and implementing body of the project “I Grow with a Book”. Within the Public Library of Rogaška Slatina, we carry out three large-scale projects: reading badge for adults “Reading without Frontiers” (orig. Branje brez meja/Čitanje bez granica), reading badge for children of the second triad of primary school “ŠOK – Škatla odličnih knjig” (angl. Box of Excellent Books) and reading badge for children “Hedgehog's Backpack” (orig. Ježkov nahrbtnik). I host the majority of literary-cultural events, organized by the library. Nina Medved

Nina Medved (1989) is a poet, performer, cultural producer, photographer and translator. She studied Comparative Literature and French. She publishes her poetry in the most prominent Slovenian literary magazines, and was presented in France, Serbia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, as well as included in several anthologies and unique poetry projects. She holds the title of the first Slovenian champion in slam poetry and is interested in innovative formats of contemporary art production, which she tries to bring to life as leader of Poetry Association Slam zverine and collaborator of various art festivals: as book fair coordinator of the Slovene Book Days in Maribor (2016), Event Manager for the international festival of classical music Maribor (2016), executive producer of the international translation festival Fragment (2013), a collaborator of Pranger, festival dedicated to literary criticism and poetry (2018) and the only French fair with poetry for children and youth Marché de la poésie jeunesse. She helped translate several Francophone authors (Makine, Teulé, Goffette, Soletti, Forte, Lécroart, Tholomé) into Slovene. Photo: Gregor Salobir
