Marcello Potocco (born 1974) has always written in Slovene, yet through a web of causes and consequences he has been living in Trieste in recent years. To date, he has published six poetry collections. The penultimate one, Odisejka v labirintu (Odyssa in the Labyrinth), was published by Hiša poezije, while the most recent, Dnevnik zelene premičnice (The Diary of the Green Globe), was selected in the Sončnice 2025 competition. He was shortlisted for the Veronika Award for Popravki pesniške zbirke (Amendments to a Poetry Collection) and for the Jenko Award for Via Francigena.

He has participated in numerous national and international festivals as well as poetry and translation workshops. His poetry has been translated into several languages and published in literary journals and anthologies. He has worked as a literary critic and essayist and is also a translator.

At present, he devotes most of his energy to teaching and research at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska in Koper, where he lectures on world literature, contemporary Slovene poetry, literary stylistics, creative writing, twentieth-century literatures and cultures, and other topics. He is currently strengthening his knowledge of Italian, which has led to an increasing presence of bi- or multilingualism in his recent poems.
