Aleš Jelenko (1986), member of the Slovene Writers’ Association, is the author of the poetry collections Kontejner (Container), Prvinska govorica (Primal Speech), (Ne)obstoj ((Non)Existence), Paralelna vesolja (Parallel Universes) and Terra Incognita. In addition, he is the author of the short prose book Zgodbe iz podtalja (Tales from the Underground) and the dramatic texts named Praznina – pet dramskih besedil za mladinska gledališča (The Void: Five Dramatic Texts for Youth Theatres).

He publishes in all prominent literary magazines in our country (Literatura, Sodobnost, Apokalipsa, Mentor, Poetikon, Vpogled, Zvon, Rast, November, Mladika …).

He is a two-time finalist of the Urška Young Literature Festival, multiple finalist of the Poetry Tournament, recipient of Mentor’s Pepperoni, winner of the Ritratti di Poesia competition in Rome, recipient of the Municipal Prešeren Award, recipient of the short story award of the Slavic Society of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, and recipient of the poetry award of the Mladika magazine in Trieste. His drama Poišči me (Find me) was staged at the Slovenian Youth Theatre, and the collection of dramatic texts Praznina was chosen as the best self-published book of the year under the auspices of JSKD.

He is the creative director of the Spirala festival and the editor of the literary magazine of the same name. He is a co-editor of the magazine Provinca and mentor of creative writing workshops.

His poems have been translated into many languages ​​(English, German, Italian, Greek, Croatian, Serbian and Hungarian). In 2020, his book of selected poems in Greek was published under the title Časovna zanka (The Time Loop).
