Maja Kraigher, 1947, graduated in French and English. She worked in publishing (DZS, PZ) and, most of the time, as a freelance literary translator. Subsequent to the anthology of Canadian short stories that she prepared (compiled, translated, prefaced) in 2006 for Sodobnost International she translated three more Canadian novels: La Kermesse (A Secret Between Us) by Daniel Poliquin, The Bishop’s Man by Linden MacIntyre (both published by Modrijan) and Six degrées de liberté (Six Degrees of Freedom) by Nicolas Dickner (published this summer by Sodobnost International). Among other prominent authors figuring in her recent bibliography are Joyce Carol Oates, Anita Nair and Neil Jordan with two books each, Edna O’Brien and Sandra Cisneros.
