Roger Perret

Roger Perret, an expert in Swiss poetry, will present an up-to-date anthology of contemporary Swiss poetry (publisher Limmat with support of Migros Kulturprozent), which is considered to be one of decade’s highest acchievements in publishing by the European media. From the audio book as further described below, the audience will be able to hear audio recordings of authors’ original readings in all four languages of Switzerland with the emphasis on Romansh and see on screen a typical Swiss tradition: image/letter. Born 1950 in Zürich. Studied philosophy, literary criticism and comparative literature in his home city. Student exchange at Naropa Institute in Boulder, USA, where he studied modern American poetry. Longstanding employment as the project leader of the department for support of cultural programmes at Migros, a union of cooperatives, in Zürich. In his publications, he has analyzed predominantly outsider characters in Swiss literature. He edited works of Nicholas Bouvier, Alexander Xaver Gwerder, Hans Morgenthaler, Annemarie Schwarzenbach, Sonja Sekula and Annemarie von Matt. The custodian of the touring photo-text exhibition on legendary Swiss female authors „La voie cruelle, la voie heureuse. Reisen nach Afghanistan 1939/40 und 1953/54. Annemarie Schwarzenbach, Ella Maillart, Nicolas Bouvier“ / Cruel way, happy way. Travels to Afghanistan in 1939/40 and 1953/54 (issued the publication „Unsterbliches Blau. Reisen nach Afghanistan“ / Immortal Blue. Travels to Afghanistan). Together with Roman Kurzmeyer, the custodian of  the exhibition „Dunkelschwestern. Annemarie von Matt – Sonja Sekula“ (mit gleichnamiger Publikation) / Sisters of Darkness. Annemarie von Matt – Sonja Sekula (issued the publication of the same title).
Together with Ingo Starz, Roger Perret edited the audio book „Wenn ich Schweiz sage … Schweizer Lyrik im Originalton von 1937 bis heute“ / If I say Switzerland … Swiss poetry in original recordings from 1937 until today (published by Christoph Merian, Basel, 2010) and the extensive anthology„Moderne Poesie in der Schweiz. Eine Anthologie“ / Modern poetry in Switzerland (2013).
