Alojzija Zupan Sosič

 

Alojzija Zupan Sosič (born 1964) is a Full Professor of Slovene literature at the Department of Slovenian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She has published monographs and discussions in Slovene and other languages and edited several anthologies and proceedings of symposia or seminars. She also participated in writing high school textbooks and in the education of teachers. She published six independent scientific monographs, of which four have already been translated into foreign languages: Teorija pripovedi (2017) has been translated into Croatian and English (A Theory of Narrative, 2022). She has chaired juries of varies literary awards. She was in charge of the internatilonal project Drugi v slovenski in bosanski književnosti (Others in Slovene in Bosnian Literature), and participated in various projects. She was president of the STU program (within the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language at the Faculty of Arts) for six years, head of the department for the period of two years, and president of the Matura Commission for one year. She is currently a member of the editorial board of two international journals. She has lectured at numerous universities in more than twenty countries. Her research interests include Slovene contemporary narrative, Slovene contemporary poetry, Slovene love poetry, women’s literature, gender identity, narrative theory and literary interpretation. In recent years, she has been systematically researching Slovenian poetry (monograph Berem pesmi, 2025), but has only been publishing her poems for a few years, although she has been writing them for a long time. The poetry collection Drevo delfin (2024) is her first book of poetry.
