Majda Travnik Vode graduated in French and comparative literature from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. After completing her studies, she worked in the library and documentation department of RTV Slovenia and at the Ceformt translation agency as a translator from German. Since January 2025, she has been working as an independent cultural worker.

She has been writing literary criticism since 1996. She currently publishes most of her work in the literary journal Sodobnost, on Radio Ars, the MMC RTV portal, and the Vrabec Anarhist portal. She also writes reviews of children’s and young adult literature for Sodobnost.

She also publishes essays and forewords and organizes discussions with literary creators.

She has translated the biographies Ise Vermehren’s Ein weites Herz and Olivier Clement’s The Other Sun: A Spiritual Autobiography. She also translates works in the field of Montessori pedagogy.

In 2025, she received the Stritar Award for her literary criticism.
