Ambrož Kvartič, PhD (1985), first established himself as a researcher of contemporary narrative folklore and as a teaching associate at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, where he works as an assistant professor in the field of folkloristics and comparative mythology. A career turning point opened up three new worlds for him in 2015 – radio and television, musical theatre and writing children’s literature. He works at RTV Slovenija as an announcer and author of educational, documentary (radio) and entertainment (TV) programmes. He works extensively with his voice as an announcer, audiobook interpreter and animation dubber. He regularly publishes children’s poetry and prose in literary magazines, and in a growing number of books. He was a cast-member of the successful Slovenian musicals Cvetje v jeseni and Veronika Deseniška and wrote the libretto for the musical Povodni mož. His work within media and creative writing is always intertwined with his research work in the fields of ethnology and folklore studies, and his non-fiction ethnological monograph Od imena do spomina was nominated for the Book of the Year Award at the Slovenian Book Fair in 2023.
