
Andrej Stopar (1972) graduated in Comparative Literature and History at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana and is currently working towards his PhD within the frame of the doctoral programme Comparative Studies of Ideas and Cultures, hosted by the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) and the University of Nova Gorica.
Since 2005 he has been working as chief correspondent from Russian Federation and CIS for the RTV Slovenia, however has been engaged with Radio Slovenia since 1993, initially on part-time basis and later as a member of staff. During this time he has made a number of broadcasts, articles and commentaries focused on science and science policies as well as humanistic and social topics, but after switching to Foreign Policy Department he mainly followed events in Central and Eastern Europe.
He is the author of three documentary films: Winter of Democracy (2008), Forks of Anna Yaroslavovna (2010) and Borsch (2012). He received Media Soiuz “Golden Verb” reward twice – for a reportage from Tatarstan (2009) and for his contribution to international journalism (2010).
