
Varja Balžalorsky Antić (1979) is a literary theorist, poet and translator. Between 2009 and 2022 she taught at the Department of Comparative Literature and Literary Studies at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. Since 2022, she’s been employed at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor, where she lectures on literary theory and world literature. She is the author of several scientific studies on lyric theory, contemporary world and Slovene poetry as well as medieval and renaissance French literature. The English language edition of her book The Lyric Subject (Lirski subject, ZRC SAZU 2019) was published by the Peter Lang publishing house in 2022 and has garnered many positive reviews in the international theoretician sphere. In 2018 she published the critically well-regarded debut poetry collection Klobuk Vere Revjakine B. at LUD Šerpa. Her poems have been translated into Serbian, French, English, Macedonian, Spanish, Galician and Portuguese and have been published in various anthologies, including the fresh anthology of post-Yugoslav female poetry Tela i jezici u pokretu (2025).
