Alen Albin Širca holds PhD in literary studies and is employed as an assistant professor at the Department of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. He is surveying the history of Western mystical poetry, older Slovene literature, and the modern methodology of literary studies. He is the author of three scientific monographs, and recently published work on Slovenian Baroque literature in the European context (2016, KUD Logos). In addition, he has translated both literary and scientific texts from French, Italian, German, and English into Slovenian. Since 2018, he has been the president of the Slovenian Comparative Literature Association (SICLA) and is a member of the editorial board of the international journal Comparative Literature.
