Brane Senegačnik graduated in classical philology from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana in 1994, where he has been employed since 1995. He translated Sophocles’ drama Women of Trachis (Trahiniai) and published several essays. Senegačnik’s poetry is an idiosyncratic synthesis of refined aesthetic, verse melos and existential declaration. In Na temnem pragu upa (1996), his collection of poems in traditional form, especially the sonnet, he expressed basic existential and religious feelings with refined poetry, sometimes in a simple manner reminiscent of classical poetry.
