Barbara Korun was born 1963 in Ljubljana, where she took a degree in the Slovene language and comparative literature and where she tought literature at high schools. She also worked at Slovene National Theatre in Ljubljana as a language advisor, at the moment she works as a freelance writer and organizes a monthly literary meetings Women Poets about Women Poets.
Her collection Ostrina miline (The Edge of Grace, 1999) received the National Book Fair Award for a debut collection. Her other collections of poetry & prose poems are Zapiski iz podmizja (Notes from under the Table, 2003), Razpoke (Fissures, 2004) and Pridem takoj (I’ll be right back, 2011) for which she received the Golden Bird Award and Veronika’s Award (for the best poetry collection of that year). Together with jazz composer and percussionist Zlatko Kaučič she recorded CD Vibrato tišine (Vibrato of Silence, 2006) with poems of Srečko Kosovel, Slovene avantgardist poet.
